Potential Song Choice number 4
Innocent by Snakes Hate Fire
Snakes Hate Fire is a band that is very not well known and is slowly becoming recognised amongst young teenagers interested in indie music. The band has no official music videos for their music, which is why this could potentially be a sensible choice for a music video as it allows nothing to be compared to.
The video will consist of 3 main looking features. One being a performance concept, reoccurring during the chorus, another a narrative of a story linking the main vocalist to a story linked to the lyrics to which the last vocal point is narrative/performance with just the main vocalist.
The lyrics of the song is all about lying so the narrative (to which the main vocalist is involved with) could be about a relationship where the male is the dominant person but a little too controlling, stopping the female from various things. The video could be about demonstrating what went on in the relationship and how the girl broke free from it and how her life now is so much better than what it was.
The start of video will start with the girl walking down a pavement, lip syncing the verse then cutting to a row with the song as a bridge, which finishes with the boy walking out and the girl looking like she doesn’t believe him. Then when the chorus kicks in, the shot cuts to the performance of the band and then again cutting to a scene where the girl receives a controlling text message from the boy – back to performance – and then back to the girls reaction to the message then again to performance.
After the first chorus is a instrumental with minimal vocals that links into the next verse, this part of the video will carry on with the narrative part where the boy keeps telling the girl what to wear, shaking his head at various outfits that the girl had put on till he agrees with jeans and a jumper that cover her body.
The next verse will again start with the tracking of the girl telling the story, lip syncing, walking down a pavement, cutting to the performance, once again.
Going back to the narrative, the girl is on her laptop looking through a folder consisting of various happy photos of her and the boy, then deleting the folder.
The next chorus will be a constant cut between the 3 visuals with the narrative being another row, but about the boy taking money from the girl’s purse and lying that he hadn’t.
Sticking to the cutting between the 3 visuals, the narrative will turn into how the girl had turned her life around, doing what she wants, wearing what she wants and having a good time. The very last scene will be the girl with all the confidence, walking past the boy who tries to get her attention but she pretends she doesn’t know who he is.
