Evaluation Question Four: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

We used various technologies such as a camera, computer, mouse, keyboard and Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. To create a music video, these technologies had benefitted us massively because without them, the creation of a music video could not had happen, but if so, with greater difficulty and not to a high quality.
Without editing software, Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, we would not have been able to edit our video. We would of had to use an old method called ‘”Crash Editing” when you cut tapes and put them together rather than simply clicking on a software to cut shots and easily place them together, also adding any specific effects to them. This is would have been a lot harder and time consuming. At first we struggled to use the software, and taught ourselves how to use its functions but then we were able to use the software to our advantage, making us greatful for the technology we have.
Another type of technology we used to our advantage was the internet. Without the internet, we would have had a lot more trouble researching to help us understand and learn more about music video conventions and how an artist would promote themselves and their music etc. We wouldn’t had been able to use websites such as YouTube and MySpace to research music videos and artists (and how they use these websites to their advantage) and also to promote our own artist and their music.
Below are the examples of websites we had used to promote our artist and their song/video:
We used MySpace where we produced an Artist Profile page. We uploaded the song being advertised and video. We included pictures and further information about the artist. We also included advertisements, advertising the debut song. We also made a blog for followers to be kept undated with the artist and her goings ons. This is a benefit because it allows artist to share their music and videos free of charge and can allow them to be discovered by record labels.
We used YouTube to show our video and music board. YouTube is also free like MySpace which is a great benefit for sharing music and videos, also ideas. YouTube also allows you to gain feedback and perhaps work upon and work uploaded on to it. We also created a Vimeo account to back up our videos on YouTube just in case they were to be taken off or lost.
Blogger is how we keep all of our work, research and process together showing our progress. It allows you to upload blogs in order of how you have done work research etc. And allows freedom of speech and show your work. It also shows our evidence of research.
